★★★★★ — 10 out of 10 sprouted! Great start!
I purchased two packs of Florissa Saffron Crocus (Crocus sativus), 10 corms in total, and planted them in a large outdoor pot on September 17 in Victoria, BC.
The first shoots appeared around October 5, and by October 16, all 10 corms had sprouted — a 100% success rate!
The plants look healthy, with beautiful green foliage. Some have even produced multiple shoots from the same corm, and the later ones are catching up nicely with the first to emerge.
It's now late October, and I'm still waiting for the first purple flowers. I'm hoping to harvest a little saffron this autumn, but even if they don't flower this year, I'm happy with how well they've established themselves.
This is my first time growing saffron, and watching them emerge has been a really enjoyable experience. Looking forward to seeing how they develop over winter and hopefully multiply for next year!
